Inclusive Excellence in Engineering Award
Eligibility: CoE Faculty and Staff members [department chairs, deans, and current members of the CoE Committee on Inclusive Excellence are not eligible]
Award Amount: $5,000
Criteria: Two awards will be provided, one for faculty and one for staff. The winners will be recognized for outstanding accomplishments that advance and enhance inclusive excellence1 in the College of Engineering. Nominations should demonstrate the impact of the nominee’s actions on inclusive excellence in the College. Especially for staff, describe the nominee’s job duties and why the efforts rise above expectations normally associated with these duties. To encourage new efforts towards inclusive excellence, we will give priority to contributions in the past five years.
Additional Guidance:
Nominations typically consist of a 2-3 page nomination letter, and the nominee’s CV or resume. When preparing your nomination, be sure to address the primary award criteria:
- What actions or accomplishments are you commending? When did they occur?
- How are these efforts enhancing inclusive excellence in the College of Engineering? What specific communities, populations, and/or units are being impacted?
- How do you know there has been a positive impact of the accomplishments?
- What are the typical job duties for your nominee, and why do these actions rise above these normal expectations?
Questions about the nomination or review process for this award can be directed to the Chair of the CoE Committee on Inclusive Excellence, see above.
1 Inclusive Excellence is about creating an environment in the College of Engineering where all members—students, postdocs, staff, faculty, and visitors—feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed, regardless of their background, identity, or learning style. The College of Engineering embraces this framework in order to foster a thriving and successful community.
