General Information: This workshop is open to all graduate students and postdocs at UW-Madison. The content will be geared towards Engineering Graduate Students with either research and/or industry aspirations. This is a hybrid event and you will be asked to participate through guided reflection writing/thinking exercises and shouting out answers to the workshop facilitator. You will not be asked to discuss anything in small groups or breakout rooms. There will be time at the end of the workshop for questions. This workshop will not be recorded. Event Details: July 9, 1-2 pm, ME 2188 or Online. 1 week before the event, please expect an email from Alexandra.Conrad@wisc.edu with the zoom link. Refreshments will be served for in-person attendees.

Event Description: This workshop will cover American professional norms and best practices for communicating with a supervisor and/or research advisor. It will also include time for you to reflect on your own communication style and that of your supervisor. By the end of the workshop, you will be better equipped to facilitate productive conversations between you and your current or future supervisor.  We will focus on how to build goodwill with your supervisor and best practices on how to share information with your supervisor.
