The communications and marketing teams in the College of Engineering provide leadership and support to promote the college and enhance its reputation through strategic marketing and communications.
The UW-Madison College of Engineering is a strong brand and our faculty, staff, students and alumni have an opportunity to maintain and strengthen the way our audiences view us. We have many important external audiences, including prospective students, prospective faculty, peer institutions, alumni, university officials, elected officials, and corporate partners. Every time we communicate on behalf of the college (letters, posters, presentations, conversations, etc.), we are sending messages about the brand. It is important to convey the right look, feel, voice and tone in everything we do.
The key to strong marketing programs is a strong marketing strategy. Being too focused on tactics can lead to inefficient or ineffective messages. We encourage you to use the marketing project brief (found in our “Brand toolkit” section of the Brand Guidelines) to prompt the questions that lead to better marketing outcomes and we suggest developing annual marketing plans to be as proactive as possible.
Below you will find tools to help you deliver important messages consistently, with the correct branding (logos, fonts, color schemes) and designs that incorporate marketing best practices.
You also can find more information and resources in UW-Madison’s brand and style guide. And, if you’d like to chat with us to discuss a challenge or project, just complete the form located under “Engage with our marketing team” on this page.
Guidelines and policies
Our brand is our most valuable asset. At its core, our brand is our reputation. It represents who we are as a college and stands for our goals and ideals.
Our website is a digital representation of the brand. As an extension of the brand, our web presence is important to engage the audiences we serve and reflect their needs.
Our photography is a visual representation of our brand, capturing our college’s spirit and energy. We closely follow university photo policies and guidelines.
