Fall Workshop for Members of Faculty Search Committees
Hiring faculty is perhaps one of the most important processes in which we can participate, as we are choosing a future leader, colleague, and member of our community for decades to come. The College of Engineering requires all members of a faculty search committee to engage in education and discussion about how to make that process inclusive, equitable, and fair, so as to hire exciting and diverse faculty in our College.
Offered each fall, in two meetings, the “Best Practices for Faculty Search Committees” workshop will equip faculty search committee members to:
- Run an effective and efficient search committee
- Actively recruit an excellence and diverse pool of applicants
- Raise awareness of unconscious assumptions and strive to reduce their influence on evaluation of applicants
- Develop and implement an effective interview process
- Create a welcoming environment for your our colleague
