Anne Lynn Gillian-Daniel

Anne Lynn Gillian-Daniel (she/her/hers) has been the Education Director for the Wisconsin Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) since 2012 and the Wisconsin Education lead for the Wisconsin-Puerto Rico Partnership in Research and Education and Materials (WiPR₂EM) since 2017. In these roles, Anne Lynn collaborates with researchers to: 1) make science and engineering content that is accessible and engaging for all audiences, 2) broaden participation of historically underrepresented groups in materials science and engineering, 3) improve their understanding of issues around equity and inclusion, and 4) effectivity communicate science to all audiences using theatrical improvisation techniques. In addition, Anne Lynn has been a trained facilitator for the Research Mentor Training (RMT) curriculum since 2015 and she has facilitated RMT for graduate students, postdocs, and faculty interested in improving their mentoring practice at universities and professional meetings nationally. In 2023, Anne Lynn was awarded the Materials Research Society’s Impact award for “creative leadership in materials education and outreach spanning all ages, in a wide range of venues, and across socioeconomic backgrounds; and for promoting diversity and inclusion.”  

In her free time, Anne Lynn enjoys sharing meals and silly conversation with her family and practicing improvisation with her all-female improv team, The Sirens.
